About Us
At ThroughCollege, we believe the best way for students to get accepted to the best school for them is to think about the bigger picture when they apply to college: What skills do they want to have when they graduate from college? What are their strengths, values, interests, and goals? How might these evolve over time? The ThroughCollege System helps students answer these questions and it helps students find, apply to, and get through college. With ThroughCollege, students find a college where they have a positive growth experience while gaining the skills to acquire productive jobs after graduation.
In U.S. High Schools, there are on average 478 students for every one school counselor (NACAC, 2004). Despite their herculean efforts, school counselors are not afforded the time to provide the optimal level of service to each student. ThroughCollege helps solve this problem by providing specific step-by-step guidance for students -- guidance that parents, teachers, school counselors and mentors can use to drive great student outcomes.
The ThroughCollege team has the experience and knowledge to design a System to help students get the best results for them.
Mission: To utilize the college admissions process to develop the knowledge and skills students can use to get in and through a peak college experience.
Vision:
- Students will navigate the competitive process of college admissions in an engaging and personally developmental way that maximizes results for them.
- Parents, teachers, coaches, and other informal advisors will leverage the ThroughCollege system to provide activity-based guidance for students.
- Educators and school counselors will gain new insights on how to effectively and creatively reach a large number of students and help them get in and through college successfully.
- Society benefits because the ThroughCollege program serves as a tool to fill the gap in college guidance that currently exists in U.S. schools. School counselors can reach more students and students are better prepared to succeed in and through college with assistance from ThroughCollege.
